					</table><p><strong>Oman</strong> and <strong>Qatar</strong> <a href="https://www.zawya.com/en/projects/utilities/oman-qatar-renewable-capacity-more-than-doubles-in-2025-dxbsv39t" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recorded</a> the fastest renewable energy growth in the <strong>GCC</strong> in 2025, with installed capacity more than doubling, according to the <strong>International Renewable Energy Agency</strong>. Oman’s capacity surged 138.5% to 1,722 MW, while Qatar’s rose 106.2% to 1,699 MW, driven entirely by large-scale solar additions. In Oman, solar capacity jumped from 672 MW to 1,672 MW, accounting for the entire 1,000 MW increase, while wind remained unchanged at 50 MW. Qatar also relied solely on solar expansion, adding 875 MW to reach 1,680 MW, with bioenergy capacity steady at 19 MW.</p>
<p><strong>Egypt</strong> <a href="https://fuelcellsworks.com/2026/04/08/energy-innovation/egypt-signs-mou-with-china-s-ueg-to-develop-mediterranean-green-hydrogen-hub/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a memorandum of understanding with <strong>China</strong>’s <strong>United Energy Group</strong> (<strong>UEG</strong>) and key local firms to explore a green hydrogen hub in Alexandria. The project will study the possibility of generating 500 MW of renewable energy capacity to produce green hydrogen and around 480 tons per day of green ammonia, integrated with existing ammonia infrastructure.</p>
<p>The <strong>European Bank for Reconstruction and Development</strong> is <a href="https://list.solar/news/ebrd-eyes-80m/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">considering</a> a $80 million loan to support <strong>Scatec’s</strong> solar-plus-storage project in <strong>Egypt</strong>, aimed at advancing “firmed renewables” by combining solar with battery storage to improve reliability and bankability. The financing would lower capital costs, strengthen project structuring, and enable batteries to shift solar output to peak-demand periods, thereby enhancing revenue stability and grid response. The project is expected to boost grid stability, reduce reliance on thermal peaker plants, and support Egypt’s integration of renewables.</p>
<p><strong>ARRAY Technologies</strong> has been <a href="https://arraytechinc.com/press-release/array-technologies-selected-as-g24-karaman-yeka-tracker-supplier-by-pekintas-group-for-260mw-solar-project-in-turkiye/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">selected</a> to supply its OmniTrack solar tracking system for the 260 MW G24 Karaman Solar Power project in <strong>Türkiye</strong>, a project led by <strong>PEKINTAS Group</strong> under the country’s YEKA renewable energy program. The project will use locally manufactured TOPCON+ solar cells. The system will enable terrain-following installations to reduce construction costs and environmental impact, while its SmarTrack software will optimize energy output using real-time weather data and adaptive tracking. The project is located in Türkiye’s Karaman province.</p>

					</table><p><strong>Türkiye</strong> <a href="https://www.aa.com.tr/en/energy/solar/turkiyes-installed-solar-power-capacity-surpasses-25-000-megawatts/55717" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expanded</a> its solar energy capacity to 25,827 MW at the end of January 2026, from 40.2 MW in 2014. Solar accounted for 20.9% of total installed power capacity at the beginning of 2026. Solar electricity generation, which was 17 GWh in 2014, rose to 38,069 GWh by the end of 2025. Türkiye&#8217;s installed solar power capacity increased 641 times by the end of January 2026. The country plans to install 120,000 MW of installed solar and wind capacity by 2035.</p>
<p><strong>France</strong>-based energy transition company <strong>ENGIE</strong> <a href="https://en.newsroom.engie.com/news/engie-will-build-own-and-operate-its-largest-onshore-wind-farm-worldwide-in-egypt-898e1-314df.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a power purchase agreement with the <strong>Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company</strong> to develop a 900 MW onshore wind farm near Ras Shokeir, in the Gulf of Suez, <strong>Egypt</strong>. The wind project will be set up under a 25-year build-own-operate program. It will be developed by a consortium comprising ENGIE (35%), <strong>Orascom Construction</strong> (25%), which will also execute all civil and electrical balance-of-plant works and supply local components, and <strong>Aeolus</strong> (40%), an African renewable energy independent power producer platform of <strong>Toyota Tsusho Corporation</strong>.</p>
<p>The financial close for the wind farm is expected by the early third quarter of 2026. The first wind turbines are expected to be delivered at the end of the year. The project will be commissioned in phases. Its first 300 MW is scheduled to come online in December 2027, and full commercial operation of the 900 MW capacity is expected to begin mid-2028.</p>
<p>The commercial-scale liquid hydrogen (LH₂) corridor <a href="https://www.zawya.com/en/projects/oil-and-gas/oman-europe-hydrogen-link-gains-steam-with-amsterdam-terminal-gh0gwyp2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">linking</a> <strong>Oman</strong> with the <strong>Netherlands</strong> and <strong>Germany</strong> is gaining momentum at the European end. Global energy logistics company <strong>Ecolog International</strong>, a key stakeholder in the transcontinental project, appointed two prominent engineering firms to develop a terminal at the Port of Amsterdam dedicated to the storage and handling of LH₂ and liquid carbon dioxide. The announcement comes nearly a year after Oman signed a joint development agreement to establish the LH₂  corridor. The corridor will enable the export of renewable fuels of non-biological origin-compliant LH₂ from the Port of Duqm to the Port of Amsterdam and key logistics hubs in Germany, including the Port of Duisburg, and onward to other European markets.</p>

					</table><p><strong>Türkiye</strong> and <strong>Saudi Arabia</strong>’s <strong>ACWA Power</strong> will <a href="https://www.aa.com.tr/en/economy/turkiye-saudi-arabia-to-sign-2nd-phase-of-5-gw-renewable-energy-deal-at-cop31/3837005" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sign</a> the second phase of the 5 GW renewable energy corporation deal at the UN climate summit COP31 to be held in Antalya, Türkiye, later in 2026. The planned agreement will cover the remaining 3 GW capacity under a government-to-government agreement between Türkiye and Saudi Arabia. Recently, a deal was signed between the two countries for the first 2 GW of solar projects in Türkiye&#8217;s Sivas and Karaman provinces.</p>
<p>Mohammad Abunayyan, Chairman at ACWA Power, said construction of 2 GW of solar capacity is expected to begin in 2027, after permits and environmental approvals are completed, with the capacity targeted for commissioning in early 2028.</p>
<p>The new phase of the renewable power agreement will be a mix of solar, wind, and energy storage. ACWA is also considering integrating storage into the initial 2 GW storage projects.</p>
<p><strong>Kuwait</strong> <a href="https://solarbytes.info/emea-bytes/kapp-extends-500-mw-shagaya-zone-2-solar-ipp-kuwait-deadline-april-2026-11141744" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extended</a> the bid submission deadline for the 500 MW Al Dibdibah Power and Al Shagaya Renewable Energy – Phase III – Zone 2 Solar PV IPP project till the end of April this year. The prequalification notice for the project was issued in May 2025. The project is within the Shagaya Renewable Energy Park in the country’s Jahra governorate. The earlier request for proposal was issued in November 2025, with the original deadline on February 16, 2026.</p>
<p>Asma Al-Mousa, director at the <strong>Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects </strong>(<strong>KAPP</strong>), noted that the project’s Zone 2 requirements differ from Zone 1, which has a capacity of 1,100 MW. KAPP has also extended the bidding deadline for the Al Khairan Phase 1 Independent Water and Power Plant to March 31, 2026.</p>
<p><strong>Egypt</strong> <a href="https://www.enerdata.net/publications/daily-energy-news/egypt-approves-272-gw-solar-projects-2-gwh-battery-storage.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> the implementation of four energy projects by the <strong>Kemet Industries </strong>group, the executive arm of the <strong>United Egypt Group for National Industries</strong>. The projects include two solar projects with capacities of 320 MW and 400 MW at the Bahariya Oasis, a 2 GWh standalone battery storage facility, and a 2 GW solar project in Nagaa Hammadi.</p>
<p>These projects are expected to be commissioned in 2027.</p>

					</table><p>Türkiye’s <a href="http://www.enerji.gov.tr/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources</a> has received 77 applications from 38 companies for the Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynak Alanı (YEKA) GES-2025 solar power auctions, which will allocate a total capacity of 650 MW across seven provinces.</p>
<p>The YEKA (Renewable Energy Resource Area) model is being used to accelerate renewable capacity additions and support long-term investment planning.</p>
<p>The Ministry said that the application phase has been completed and competitive auctions for eight solar projects will take place next week.</p>
<p>The project capacities and the number of applications submitted are 50 MW for the Bolu project with six applications, 100 MW for Erzurum-1 GES with nine applications, 85 MW for Erzurum-3 GES with five applications, 260 MW for Eskişehir with four applications, 40 MW for Kahramanmaraş with 19 applications, 40 MW for Mardin with 15 applications, 40 MW for Van with eight applications, and 35 MW for the YG25-Demirköprü floating solar project with 11 applications.</p>
<p>The Demirköprü project, located in the reservoir area of the Demirköprü Hydroelectric Power Plant in Manisa, is Türkiye’s first floating solar initiative. The structure became possible after last year’s amendment to the Coastal Law, which enabled the installation of renewable energy systems in seas, dam reservoirs, artificial lakes, and natural water bodies.</p>
<p>The Ministry has set the starting ceiling price at €0.055 (~$0.063)/kWh and the base price at €0.0325 (~$0.037)/kWh. If the auction reaches the base price, the contribution increment starting value will be €10,000 (~$11,500)/MW.</p>
<p>Electricity generated from the awarded solar projects can be sold on the free market for 60 months from the signing date of the investment contract, after which a 20-year electricity purchase period begins.</p>
<p>Applications for the YEKA RES-2025 wind auctions will be accepted on December 2, 2025.</p>
<p>In February, Türkiye <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/turkiye-800-mw-solar-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> 800 MW of solar capacity under the YEKA program.</p>
<p>Ember <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/turkiyes-hybrid-projects-help-solar-surpass-wind-capacity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that hybrid power projects are emerging as key players in Türkiye’s pursuit of renewable energy goals because they can generate electricity from both primary and secondary sources connected to the grid at the same location.</p>

					</table><p>The <a href="https://www.enerji.gov.tr/homepage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources</a> has announced that it will issue 2 GW of renewable energy tenders under the country’s flagship Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynak Alanları (YEKA) program in November 2025.</p>
<p>The program is designed to accelerate renewable energy deployment through large-scale resource zones with pre-approved grid connections.</p>
<p>According to the official tender documents published in the country’s Official Gazette, applications for the 850 MW solar tender will open on November 4, 2025, while the 1.15 GW wind tender will follow on November 18, 2025.</p>
<p>Together, the two rounds will allocate capacity across 16 projects nationwide.</p>
<p>The solar tender will award a total of 850 MW spread across 11 projects. These include three projects in Erzurum totaling 335 MW, two projects in Eskişehir with a combined 260 MW, 50 MW each in Bolu and Elazığ, 40 MW each in Van, Mardin, and Kahramanmaraş, and a 35 MW floating solar project on the Demirköprü reservoir in Manisa.</p>
<p>Winning developers will be permitted to sell electricity on the free market for 60 months following the contract signing date, before transitioning to a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the government. The ceiling tariff has been set at €0.0550 (~$0.0646)/kWh, while the floor tariff is €0.0325 (~$0.0381)/kWh.</p>
<p>The wind tender will allocate 1.15 GW across six projects, the largest being a 500 MW facility in Sivas. Other sites include three projects in Balıkesir totaling 390 MW, a 140 MW project in Aydın-Denizli, and a 120 MW project in Kütahya.</p>
<p>Wind project developers will have the right to sell electricity in the free market for 72 months before entering a 20-year PPA. The projects will have a tariff range of  €0.550 (~$0.646)/kWh to €0.350 (~$0.411)/kWh.</p>
<p>Both tenders include strong local content provisions. Solar projects must use modules manufactured in Türkiye, while wind projects require locally produced turbine components. The winning bidders must ensure compliance with domestic manufacturing and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.</p>
<p>In February, Türkiye <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/turkiye-800-mw-solar-auction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> 800 MW of solar capacity under the YEKA program.</p>


Türkiye Announces 2 GW Renewable Energy Tenders

					</table><p>The <strong>Saudi Electricity Company (SEC)</strong> <a href="https://news.daleel.gov.sa/energy/battery-energy-storage-breakthrough-in-saudi-arabia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> two major battery energy storage projects in the northern region of the country with a combined capacity of 4.9 GWh. The projects’ installation costs will range between $73/kWh and $75/kWh. The contracts were awarded to a <strong>China</strong>-based manufacturer, <strong>HiTHIUM</strong>, and a <strong>Saudi Arabia</strong>-based engineering, procurement, and construction contractor, <strong>Alfanar Projects</strong>. The project sites, spread across the Tabuk and Hail provinces, will comprise a 500 MW, four-hour system, with a 2.45 GWh storage system for each project. The storage systems will include a five-year degradation buffer. Contracts for equipment supply will be worth $179 million for the Tabuk project and $183 million for the project in Hail. Engineering and construction costs are expected to reach $116 million and $118 million, respectively.</p>
<p><strong>Oman</strong>-based consultancy firm <strong>Five Elements Environmental Services</strong> <a href="https://www.alcircle.com/news/oman-and-the-netherlands-launch-a-strategic-partnership-to-boost-renewable-energy-development-115440" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> a strategic collaboration with <strong>Netherlands</strong>-headquartered <strong>Pondera Consult</strong> for supporting investors in Oman’s renewable energy and green hydrogen projects. The collaboration aims to offer advanced technical, engineering, environmental, social, and climate risk assessments for Oman’s projects.</p>
<p>The <strong>Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources</strong> <a href="https://taiyangnews.info/tenders/turkey-officially-announces-2-gw-renewable-energy-tender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the timelines for its planned 2 GW renewable energy tender. Bids for 850 MW of solar capacity will be accepted on November 4, 2025, and for 1.15 GW of wind capacity on November 18, 2025. Of the total 16 planned projects across the two technologies, 10 will focus on solar energy, and the remaining six on wind energy. 					</table><p>Türkiye’s <a href="https://enerji.gov.tr/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources</a> has awarded 800 MW of solar capacity in the latest round of its Yenilenebilir Enerji Kaynak Alanları (YEKA &#8211; Renewable Energy Resource Areas) program.</p>
<p>The projects will be set up in Konya, Karaman, Malatya, Van, Antalya, and Kütahya. Selected bidders can sell the electricity they produce in the free market for 60 months after signing the contract. The electricity generated thereafter will be fed into the transmission system at $0.0325/kWh for 20 years.</p>
<p>The projects aim to prevent the import of 300 million cubic meters of natural gas, equivalent to $3 billion considering the 20-year purchase process.</p>
<p>A total of 146 applications were received from 67 local and foreign companies. Legal entities established as joint stock or limited liability companies according to the Turkish Commercial Code and foreign companies with capital company status participated in the auction.</p>
<p>Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, said the program involved a competitive process in which the government will invest approximately $500 million to generate 1.5 billion kWh of electricity annually, aiming to meet the electricity needs of 600,000 households.</p>
<p>Noting that the tenders were realized at an average price of $126,000/MW in six competitions, Bayraktar said, “Our electricity purchase guarantee was $0.0325/kWh. When you look at today’s market prices, it was realized at a price lower than half.”</p>
<p>The minister said the tenders prioritized domestic equipment production. We held the tenders with a minimum local content requirement of 75% in modules. Therefore, the modules to be used here will be produced in Türkiye.”</p>
<p>In March last year, Türkiye’s Ministry of Commerce <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/turkiye-deposit-on-solar-panel-imports/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> an order regulating solar panel imports from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Croatia, and Jordan. The move was intended to create a level playing field for domestic players.</p>
<p>According to the International Energy Agency’s World Energy Outlook published in November 2023, Türkiye <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/global-solar-module-manufacturing-by-2030-iea" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accounted</a> for around 1% of global solar manufacturing capacity.</p>
