					</table><p>Energy solutions provider <a href="https://www.apraava.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apraava Energy</a> and <a href="https://jyotistructures.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jyoti Structures</a>, an engineering, procurement, and construction firm, have announced the commissioning of two transmission projects in Rajasthan and Karnataka.</p>
<p>Apraava commissioned a 22-km, 400 kV Fatehgarh-IV transmission line along with a 400/220 kV pooling substation in Barmer, Rajasthan, as part of the transmission program for evacuating power from Rajasthan’s renewable energy zones (REZs) under Phase-III Part A1.</p>
<p>The new line connects to Apraava’s Fatehgarh-III substation, strengthening the evacuation of renewable power from the Jaisalmer–Barmer region.</p>
<p>The Fatehgarh-IV transmission line has an evacuation capability of 2.5 GW, enabled through five 500 MVA transformers at the pooling substation.</p>
<p>The company operates three transmission assets (~516 km) with 3.5 GW of substation capacity, and three greenfield projects under construction (~470 km) with nearly 8 GW of combined capacity.</p>
<p>Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director at Apraava Energy, said that the Fatehgarh-IV transmission project is the company’s first greenfield transmission project of this scale.</p>
<p>Additionally, the company also operates three wind power projects with a combined capacity of over 250 MW in the state, while three solar projects with a total capacity of 550 MW are under construction.</p>
<p>Separately, Jyoti Structures commissioned the 400 kV Gadag–II transmission line project for <a href="https://www.renew.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ReNew</a> in Karnataka.</p>
<p>The project includes 100 circuit kilometres of twin HTLS transmission lines connecting Gadag and Koppal power stations.</p>
<p>Rajesh Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer at Jyoti Structures, said the commissioning of the transmission line comes closely on the heels of the charging of a project for Torrent Power.</p>
<p>Strategically, the line is part of an interstate transmission system designed to evacuate renewable energy from the Koppal Solar Energy Zone (estimated at 1.5 GW).</p>
<p>Recently, the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/rerc-allows-apraava-compensation-for-installing-bird-diverters-in-gib-habitat" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allowed</a> Apraava Power to claim compensation on a change-in-law event arising from expenses incurred on installing bird flight diverters at its 151.2 MW wind projects located in the Great Indian Bustard habitat.</p>
<p>In December last year, Apraava <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/apraava-gets-%E2%82%B98-billion-from-bii-standard-chartered-to-expand-smart-metering" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> ₹8.01 billion (~₹92 million) from impact investor British International Investment and Standard Chartered to expand its advanced metering infrastructure footprint.</p>

					</table><p>Solar solutions provider <a href="https://www.apraava.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apraava Energy</a> has secured ₹8.01 billion (~₹92 million) from impact investor British International Investment (<a href="https://www.bii.co.uk/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BII</a>) and <a href="https://www.sc.com/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Standard Chartered</a> to expand its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) footprint.</p>
<p>Apraava signed financing agreements of approximately ₹4 billion (~$46 million) with BII and a separate agreement with Standard Chartered for roughly the same amount.</p>
<p>AMI is a smart meter network designed to enhance grid efficiency, support grid stability, improve transparency, and enable a more sustainable power distribution by integrating renewable energy.</p>
<p>Apraava said the new financing will help it install more than two million smart meters in homes and businesses.</p>
<p>The company offers end-to-end AMI solutions. It operates across multiple Indian states and aims to install 7.8 million smart meters.</p>
<p>States where Apraava has implanted AMI projects include Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. It has also executed AMI projects in the union territory of Puducherry.</p>
<p>The company’s portfolio includes approximately 3.4 GW of installed capacity, comprising about 1,200 MW of wind, 250 MW of solar, and 1,320 MW of coal-fired projects. It also has two power transmission assets of roughly 494 ckm and four greenfield transmission projects, including about 500 ckm of transmission lines and substations with over 10 GW capacity.</p>
<p>Apraava is constructing a 300 MW wind project and two 550 MW solar projects.</p>
<p>Under the Smart Meter National Program, as part of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, the government has set a target to install 250 million smart meters for electricity consumers by the end of the financial year 2026. However, with less than a year to go before the program ends, the <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/smart-meter-deployment-dismal-sunset-date-just-a-year-away" target="_blank" rel="noopener">achievement</a> is dismal.</p>
<p>The government provides a grant of ₹900 (~$10.3), or 15% of the cost, whichever is lower, for every smart meter.</p>
<p>According to an analysis by the Ministry of Power, installing smart meters has positively impacted the utilities of Assam and Bihar. About 44% of consumers in Assam saved roughly 50 units per month through consumption tracking and accurate billing. It has also helped the distribution companies of the two states to reduce losses, the benefits of which would ultimately go to the consumers</p>
<p>In September this year, the Ministry of Power <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/government-to-form-experts-committee-to-train-discoms-on-smart-meter-data" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> it would constitute a steering committee and a sub-working group of domain experts to standardize training modules and create standard operating procedures/guidelines for data utilization, standards-based regime adoption, and cybersecurity practices on smart meter data analytics for distribution companies.</p>


Apraava Gets ₹8 Billion from BII, Standard Chartered to Expand Smart Metering

					</table><p>Ghaziabad-based <a href="https://www.goodluckindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Goodluck India</a> has secured an order worth ₹468.7 million (~$5.60 million) from <a href="https://www.apraava.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apraava Energy</a> for the supply of solar module mounting structures.</p>
<p>The company reported that it will be supplying approximately 70% of the module mounting structures for a 300 MW project in Rajasthan.</p>
<p>In its BSE filing, Goodluck India said the project must be executed in six months.</p>
<p>Goodluck India has an order book of approximately ₹4 billion (~$47.83 million) for the solar support/mounting structures segment.</p>
<p>The company also manufactures transmission tubes for the solar tracker industry, and structures for transmission lines and substations for power evacuation projects.</p>
<p>It operates six manufacturing plants across Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, with a total capacity of 500,000 tons per annum.</p>
<p>Goodluck India is targeting a consolidated revenue of $1 billion over the next three to five years, with annual revenue and profit growth of 15% to 20%.</p>
<p>In January 2024, the company raised nearly ₹2 billion (~$23.9 million) through a qualified institutional placement of shares.</p>
<p>In June this year, Goodluck India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-module-mounting-structure-market-leaders-in-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emerged</a> as one of the top five module mounting structure suppliers to the Indian solar market in 2024, according to Mercom’s India Solar Market Leaderboard 2025 report. It led the solar module mounting structure shipments with a market share of 25.3%.</p>
<p>Mounting structures with proper with proper alignment and tilt ensures optimal energy generation, maximizes sunlight capture, and improves overall efficiency across rooftop solar and ground-mounted projects. These structures must endure seasonal variations and the challenging conditions typical of solar power project sites.</p>
<p>Various initiatives, including government-supported solar programs such as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, as well as solar parks, and other utility-scale installations, have been driving the demand for mounting structures.</p>
<p>Last August, Apraava Energy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/apraava-bags-project-to-evacuate-renewable-energy-in-rajasthan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bagged</a> a transmission project to evacuate 5.5 GW of power from renewable energy zones in Rajasthan. The company emerged as the transmission service provider in the tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy.</p>


Goodluck Wins ₹468 Million Solar Module Mounting Structures Order

					</table><p>India added 412 MW of wind power capacity in the third quarter (Q3) of the calendar year 2023, representing a 53% year-over-year (YoY) dip, according to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/research" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India Research</a>.</p>
<p>The installations were down 64% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) from 1,139.9 MW.</p>
<p>The decline resulted from leading wind energy states like Karnataka and Rajasthan failing to register any installations during the quarter.</p>
<p>According to Mercom sources, in Karnataka, developers faced substation shortages during the quarter, leading to most completed projects not being commissioned. Since no projects were scheduled to be commissioned in Rajasthan during the quarter, the state did not see any new capacity added.</p>
<p>Notable wind projects commissioned during the quarter were Apraava Energy&#8217;s 107 MW project in Gujarat, JSW Energy&#8217;s 103 MW project in Tamil Nadu, Adani Green Energy&#8217;s 62 MW project, and Alfanar&#8217;s 55 MW project in Gujarat.</p>

<p>Gujarat led the states for cumulative wind installations, accounting for 25.1% of the country&#8217;s total capacity. Tamil Nadu remained at the second spot with 23.3%.</p>
<p>At the end of Q3, Karnataka had the third highest installations, representing 12% of the total wind capacity, and Rajasthan ranked fourth with 11.8%.</p>
<p>Maharashtra was fifth, accounting for 11.6% of the installed wind capacity during the quarter, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 9.3% and Madhya Pradesh with 6.4%.</p>
<p>The Ministry of New &amp; Renewable Energy has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-renewable-energy-bidding-trajectory" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> an agency-wise bidding calendar for 50 GW of renewable energy projects for the current financial year (FY 2023-24), which includes at least 10 GW of wind tenders.</p>
<p>In July this year, the Ministry of Power <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/bidding-guidelines-wind-power-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> new guidelines for the tariff-based competitive bidding process for procurement power from grid-connected wind power projects to boost renewable capacity and meet the distribution licensee&#8217;s renewable purchase obligation. The guidelines aim to create a transparent and fair procurement framework through open competitive bidding, ensuring competitive prices and risk-sharing among stakeholders to enhance project bankability and investor returns.</p>


India’s Wind Energy Installations Fall 53% YoY in Q3 2023

<p>Solairedirect won the total quoted capacity of 250 MW at a tariff of ₹2.52 (~$0.0303)/kWh.</p>
<p>The rest of the winners, Avaada (1,000 MW), Hazel Hybren (300 MW), Jakson (400 MW), Sprng Energy (250 MW), Green Infra Wind Energy (300 MW), Apraava (250 MW), and Hinduja (250 MW) quoted ₹2.53 (~$0.0304)/kWh.</p>
<p>Hinduja Renewable Energy had bid for 490 MW but was awarded 250 MW under the bucket-filling method.</p>
<p>The reverse auction discovered the opening L1 tariff of ₹2.64 (~$0.0317)/kWh.</p>

<p>NHPC <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/nhpc-bids-3-gw-ists-connected-solar-projects" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> the tender for the projects in June this year.</p>
<p>The projects must be commissioned within 18 months from the effective date of signing the power purchase agreement.</p>
<p>The tender had specified that projects already commissioned would not be considered. Projects under construction or not yet commissioned would be considered if they are not already accepted under any other central or state programs.</p>
<p>The selected solar project developers will be responsible for getting ISTS connectivity.</p>
<p>The declared annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) should, in no case, be less than 17%. The solar project developer should maintain generation to achieve annual CUF within + 10% and – 15% of the declared value till the end of ten years from the commissioning date, subject to the annual CUF remaining at a minimum of 15% and within +10% and -20% of the declared value of the annual CUF after that till the end of the PPA duration of 25 years.</p>
<p>According to Mercom India Research, solar auctions <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/solar-auctions-up-86-tenders-rise-5-yoy-q3-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increased</a> 86% year-over-year (YoY) in the third quarter of 2023, and tender activity saw a 7% YoY increase.</p>

					</table><p><a href="https://www.pfcclindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">PFC Consulting</a>, a wholly-owned subsidiary of <a href="https://www.pfcindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Power Finance Corporation</a>, has announced the transfer of two interstate transmission systems (ISTS) projects to evacuate 40 GW of power from renewable energy zones in Rajasthan to <a href="https://www.apraava.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Apraava Energy</a>.</p>
<p>Apraava had won the auction to develop the Fatehgarh III and Fatehgarh IV transmission projects earlier this year and was issued a letter of intent on March 29, 2023.</p>
<p>The Fatehgarh III transmission project will establish a 230 km 400 kV D/c transmission line connecting Fatehgarh 3 to Badla 3 to evacuate 20 GW of power from the renewable energy zone in Rajasthan under Phase-III, Part A1.</p>
<p>Fatehgarh IV transmission includes a 5&#215;500 MVA pooling substation (Fatehgarh 4) to support the transmission network and around 22 km of 400 kV D/c transmission line connecting Fatehgarh 4 to Fatehgarh 3 to evacuate 20 GW of power from renewable energy zone in Rajasthan under Phase-III, Part A3.</p>
<p>The company had quoted ₹147.3 million (~$1.78 million) for the Fatehgarh III transmission project and ₹74.22 million (~$896,390) for Fatehgarh IV.</p>
<p>Apraava will be responsible for the projects&#8217; ownership, financing, development, design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance. It will provide transmission services for 35 years before transferring them to the Central Transmission Utility.</p>
<p>The construction timeline for both projects is 18 months.</p>
<p>The tender was <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/bids-interstate-transmission-system-evacuate-40-gw-renewables" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> in February last year.</p>
<p>Commenting on the successful bids, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director of Apraava Energy, said, &#8220;These two wins will further enhance our capabilities in the transmission business and help accelerate our growth strategy.”</p>

<p>If Apraava fails to start commercial operation on time, the company will have to pay the nodal agency a sum equivalent to 3.33% of the monthly transmission charges applicable for the project for each day of delay up to 60 days of delay and beyond that, at the rate of 5% of the monthly transmission charges, as liquidated damages.</p>

Apraava Secures ISTS Projects to Evacuate 40 GW of Renewables in Rajasthan

<p><strong>Suzlon Group </strong><a href="https://www.suzlon.com/press-release-detail/425/sembcorp-awards-a-new-order-of-1806-mw-to-suzlon" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> it had won an order to develop a 180.6 MW wind power project for Sembcorp&#8217;s renewables subsidiary Green Infra Wind Energy.</strong> Suzlon will install 86 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 2.1 MW each. The project is in Kanakagiribad, Bagalkot, Karnataka, and is expected to be commissioned in 2024. Suzlon will supply the wind turbines and execute the project, including erection and commissioning. Suzlon will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services post-commissioning. This order is part of the bid won under the SECI tranche XI auctions by Sembcorp.</p>
<p><strong>The Competition Commission of India </strong><a href="https://www.pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1856889" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>approved</strong></a><strong> the acquisition of a stake in Apraava Energy by CDPQ Infrastructures Asia II under Section 31(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.</strong> CDPQ currently holds 40% shareholding in Apraava. With the proposed acquisition, it will acquire an additional 10% shareholding from CPL GPEC (Mauritius) Holding.</p>
<p><strong>The U.S. Department of Energy </strong><a href="https://www.energy.gov/articles/doe-announces-46-million-explore-new-technologies-convert-carbon-and-waste-clean-energy" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> $46 million for 22 projects to create biofuel energy to help decarbonize the transportation and power generation sectors.</strong> These innovative projects, led by universities, private companies, municipal resource management entities, and local governments, will develop waste conversion and carbon capture technologies to produce fuels from biomass and waste streams and enable algal systems to capture carbon and turn it into alternative clean energy sources. The selected project teams will support high-impact research and development to accelerate the growth of the bio-economy by developing improved organisms and inorganic catalysts that support the next generation of low-carbon biofuels and bioproducts, turning costly waste streams into valuable bioenergy resources and increasing the capability of algal systems to capture carbon dioxide and use it to produce biofuels and bioproducts.</p>
<p><strong>SJVN </strong><a href="https://sjvn.nic.in/latest-updates-detail/1917/120" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> it would develop 5 GW of renewable energy projects in Punjab. </strong>Renewable energy projects will include solar, canal top solar, and floating solar projects through joint ventures. The company said it was developing a 100 MW solar project in Punjab for which it had signed a power purchase agreement with the Punjab State Power Corporation. The project is being developed at the cost of ₹5.45 billion (~$68.29 million) and will generate 245 million units (MU) in the first year, while the cumulative energy generation over 25 years would be around 56432 MU.</p>
<p><a href="https://airtouchsolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Airtouch Solar</strong></a><strong>, a robotic solar module cleaning company, announced that it has signed orders in the overall scope of approximately $3.3 million with </strong><a href="https://renewpower.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>ReNew Power</strong></a> for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar panel cleaning robots in several projects. The transaction with ReNew Power includes agreements for the sale, installation, operation, and maintenance of robotic systems manufactured by Airtouch for the dry (water-free) cleaning of panels in 7 solar fields of ReNew Power in India.</p>
